Question: From NCERT NEET Derived PYQ
Answer ▽
Subtrate level phosphorylation
One molecule of pyruvate produces 4 molecules of NADH, 1 molecule of FADH2 and 1 molecule of ATP in oxidative decarboxylation and Krebs cycle. Further, 1 molecule of FADH2 and 4 molecules of NADH produce 2 and 12 (4×3) ATP molecules, respectively by oxidation in the electron transport system (ETS). So in total 15 ATPs are produced from one molecule of pyruvate.
